Singing since the young age of five, her mother says that she first realized Jernie’s talent when she came home from pre-school belting out Tomorrow, the theme song from the play Annie. I guess you could say that it was a HUGE discovery, because since then, she has been the youngest top performer in all of South Florida!
Traveling many great miles to perform, Jernie has already experienced the ups and downs of the entertainment industry. Even national television has made room for this young bombshell to show off her voice for the country to see. Appearing on the Maury Povich Show, for talented kids, she wooed the audience (and Maury himself) with an amazing rendition of Proud Mary … and that was only the beginning. Jernie just recently traveled to be on the show America’s Most Talented Kids, which was recorded for National Television in California. On both shows, she has soaked up the airtime with her amazingly powerful voice and great stage presence, thus proving that big things really do come in small packages!
This little hip-shaker is on high demand, but don’t just take my word for it. Jernie has been requested to perform the National Anthem for three major league baseball teams, one of which being the New York Mets, where she was flown to Shea Stadium for the brief, but difficult, one minute song! Her list of Civic Organization Performances goes on and on. She has devoted her talent and big spirit to the United Way, March of Dimes, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Cancer Relay for Life, Fort Pierce’s Centennial Celebration, the St. Lucie County Community Memorial for September 11, and many more.
Recently performing in the Starz of the Future contest, hosted by the South Florida Fair, it is no surprise that Jernie went home as the winner of the four round competition. Sitting in the audience I was able to witness first hand the amazement that Jernie has over the crowd. After performing a traditional slow tune, Jernie says “Now we’re going to kick it up a notch!” Then when the music of Cowboy Sweetheart starts to play, the audience claps their hands along to the beat, but when Jernie starts Yodeling, like in the old western movies, the audience becomes stunned and cheers her on! “She is amazing!” I heard someone in the audience say, “It’s hard to believe that such a big voice comes out of such a little person.” And indeed it is.
Many have taken notice of Jernie’s talent. News papers have written articles, the internet has published stories, and most of South Florida looks for her name in upcoming concerts. She has been the opening act for many prestigious Country Artists such as Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts, Darryl Worley and Trick Pony, just to name a few. Jernie is also no stranger to the stage of Theater. She has shown another side of her talents through acting in the plays, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, at the Riverside Children’s Theater. With great ambitions such as Jernie’s you never know what is in store for the future.
With her learning to write her own songs, it is safe to say that you should definitely keep your ears tuned, because “Jernie” is going to be a house-hold name someday soon. She has collaborated with studio technicians and has taken a lot of time out of her “childhood years” to focus on what she wants to bring to the table of the Country Music Industry. With charm and charisma running far and wide in her veins it is NO doubt that she is determined to be only the best. She loves country music and her fans can always depend on her to produce that “country” sound! And although they feel like they’ve seen her at her best… just let me say… They Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet! |
